Vandoorne in Singapore:

Stoffel Vandoorne replaces 2009 Formula One world champion Jenson Button at McLaren and will line up alongside Fernando Alonso.

The Belgian driver made his Formula One debut at the 2016 Bahrain Grand Prix as a stand-in for Alonso after the Spaniard was injured in a massive crash in Australia. Vandoorne put in a glittering performance and finished tenth to claim McLaren’s first point of 2016.

The 25-year-old is a long-time McLaren junior driver and he won several titles in his junior career. These include the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup in 2012 and the 2015 GP2 title.

A lot is expected of Vandoorne in Formula One and he possesses the record of most wins in GP2, which has become Formula 2 for 2017.
