Roundup Of Friday's Support Races

Kiwis can fly

Small country, big in motor sport: New Zealanders took the top two slots in the 45-minute free practice session for this weekend's Porsche Carrera Cup Asia race at Marina Bay.

Two-time series champion and current overall leader Chris van der Drift set the pace with a best lap of 2 minutes 18.366 seconds in the Kamlung Racing #1 911 GT3 Cup car, with compatriot Will Bamber just over a second behind in the #12 Earl Bamber Motorsport entry.

The 27-car field of 488 Challenge V8 turbo-charged cars looked stunning under the Singapore lights in the Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific, where reigning champion Philippe Prette flew in the Blackbird Concessionaires #1 entry to top practice with a lap of 2:20.047.

The session was red-flagged halfway through and did not restart after Coppa Shell leader Tani Hanna hit the barriers hard at Turn 10, the driver climbing out unharmed - more than could be said for his #157 Scuderia Lebanon car.
