Double first for Ferrari drivers, Porsche pole for Hamprecht

Indonesian Renaldi Hutasoit used pole position to maximum advantage to win the first of two Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific races at Marina Bay Circuit this weekend, leading the 10-lapper from start to finish as the battle for the other podium places raged behind him.

'Finally!' said Ferrari Jakarta driver Hutasoit. 'This is like a home race for me and finally I brought it home.'

Trofeo Pirelli series leader Alex Au of Hong Kong seemed to have second place in his grasp but a late-race flurry of action saw Italy's Philippe Prette claim his own first podium in Singapore as Japan's Go Max completed the top three.

Au ended up fourth, one ahead of last year's double winner and local favourite Ringo Chong.

A quartet of big names dominated the half-hour of Porsche Carrera Cup Asia qualifying but it was Germany's Philip Hamprecht who claimed pole position with a time of 2:16.258 for Team StarChase.

That was almost two and a half seconds quicker than the 2017 pole-setting time but just two-tenths of a second ahead of series leader Chris van der Drift.

Also under 2:17 were last year's double Singapore winner Martin Ragginger of Team Porsche Holding and 2017 pole-sitter Will Bamber in the Earl Bamber Motorsport entry.

Singapore's Yuey Tan was quickest of the Pro-Am drivers in 10th spot while the category leader Wayne Shen brought out the red flag with five minutes remaining when he slid into the barriers.
