With commanding views of the inside of Turns 1 to 3 at the Chicane @ Turn 2 Grandstand, you will be in prime position to watch as drivers jostle for position through the first three corners - an overtaking hot-spot !
In 2023, Alpine’s Esteban Ocon lost power in lap 43 due to a suspected gearbox issue and stopped at Turn 2 despite an impressive drive, having climbed to sixth place from twelfth position. The issue triggered a virtual safety car, which led to a strategic double-stack by Mercedes, setting up a grandstand finish for the Silver Arrows.
In 2019, Toro Rosso's Daniil Kvyat and Alfa Romeo's Kimi Räikkönen collided at Turn 1 just 11 laps before the chequered flag was waved, resulting in the Finnish driver’s retirement and the deployment of the Safety Car.
