Sustainability

At Singapore GP, we are determined to build a legacy of positive change. In line with F1’s goal of reaching net zero by 2030, we have been working closely with the Singapore Tourism Board to lay the foundation for a more sustainable Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix.

The 2024’s night race achieved significant greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) reduction of 40.6% in Scope 1, 2 and 3 compared to 2022 during the 5-month construction and tear down of the event. The total emissions in the Circuit Park from patron experience zones amounted to 1407.71 tCO2e.

In 2024, we reduced our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 40.1% compared to 2022, surpassing the 26% reduction target originally set for 2025. This puts us on the fast track to halving the energy emissions from Scope 1 and 2 from the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix by 2028.

OUR GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS IN 2024

In 2024, GHG emissions arising from the F1 night race totalled 1407.71 tCO2e, representing a 40.6% reduction in tCO2e emissions from the baseline in 2022. Compared to 2023, the 2024 edition of the Formula 1 night race saw a year-on-year  reduction of 25.2% in tCO2e emissions This brings us closer to our goal of reducing the event’s energy emissions by up to 52% by 2028.

Key Sustainability Pillars

the track

Holistic Approach to Sustainability

We are committed to adopting a circular economy, working around challenges and constraints associated with the organisation of our event. We will work together with our key stakeholders and partners to ensure that a holistic approach to sustainability is adopted through-the-line.

Materials will be reused for as long as possible, resources utilised will be sourced sustainably, waste streams will be streamlined with improvement on waste operations to minimise waste and we will ensure that our supply chain has a responsible procurement process of goods and the delivery of services.

Reducing Carbon Footprint

With Scope 1 being our biggest source of carbon emissions, we pledge to halve our energy emissions from Scope 1 and 2 from the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix by 2028. We will focus on energy reduction, increasing the use of renewable energy sources and utilising Renewable Energy Certificates for unavoidable emissions to ensure we reach our target.

To reduce emissions from power generators, we will gradually phase out diesel and increase the use of alternative fuels such as hydrotreated vegetable oil with lower carbon emissions.

Social & Community Impact

We strongly believe in the unifying power of sport to grow education, employment and volunteering opportunities; and we will continue to play our role in catalysing this. We remain committed to having an equal, diverse and inclusive talent pool and continue to share good practices with industry peers and beyond.
